Be The Spider

Be The Spider.

There was a time in my life when everything felt like it had been burned to the ground.

I’d come home exhausted…
physically drained…
emotionally empty…

And at the same time, I was trying to be strong as a father to my 14-year-old daughter who was fighting for her life against cancer.

The life I knew was gone.

It felt like everything had been destroyed… like a home after a fire.

One night, I walked out to my patio and saw this big, ugly spider sitting in the middle of a massive web.

Without thinking, I grabbed a broom and destroyed it.

The next day… it was back.

So I knocked it down again.

The next day… same thing.

Again and again.

Until something hit me.

That spider didn’t care what I did.

It didn’t complain.
It didn’t quit.
It didn’t feel sorry for itself.

It just kept rebuilding.

Relentlessly.
Consistently.
Without emotion.

And eventually…

I stopped fighting it.

I respected it.

We became friends.

Because in that moment, I realized…

That spider had something I needed.

The will to rebuild… no matter how many times life knocks you down.

No matter how bad it gets.
No matter how unfair it feels.
No matter how many times everything falls apart…

You rebuild.

That’s it.

That’s the lesson.

Be the spider.
